The study of the dyes interaction with the beta-pleated
protein aggregates in the University of Twente |
| 09.2007
- 12.2007
Enschede, The Netherlands
From September till December 2007
Kateryna Volkova was on the training in the University of Twente
(Enschede, The Netherlands) in the Biophysical Engineering group
(Prof. Vinod Subramaniam). She performed the study of the dyes
complexes with the beta-pleated protein aggregates by the polarized
fluorescence, time resolved fluorescence and atomic force microscopy
methods. Basing on the results of the studies the publications
are being prepared.

The 10-th Conference on Methods and Applications of Fluorescence:
Spectroscopy, Imaging and Probes |
|
09.09.2007
- 12.09.2007
Salzburg, Austria
Vladyslava Kovalska, Mykhaylo
Losytskyy, Anatoliy Balanda and Kateryna Volkova participated
in the 10-th Conference on Methods and Applications of Fluorescence:
Spectroscopy, Imaging and Probes (9-12 September, Salzburg, Austria).
The scientists from all over the world dealing with fluorescence
based methods meet on this Conference each two years. Our collaborators
familiarized themselves with the last achievements in the field
of fluorescent probes application and communicated with the scientists
working in the fluorescent probes area. Our group presented four
poster reports at the Conference:
-
4-Oxo-4,6,7,8-tetrahydropyrrolo[1,2-a]thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidinestyrylcyanines
- Novel Fluorescent Dyes for TPE Detection of RNA.
-
Symmetric
benzothiazole and benzoselenazole squaraine dyes as fluorescent
probes for proteins detection.
-
Novel
Fluorescent Dyes for Selective Fibrillar α-Synuclein
Detection.
-
The
mechanism of benzothiazole styrylcyanine dyes binding with
dsDNA.

| 23.02.2007
On
the 23rd of February 2007 the member of our group Anatoliy Balanda
defended his Ph.D thesis in bioorganic chemistry. The thesis of
Anatoliy was devoted to the synthesis of styrylcyanine dyes and
study of these dyes as possible probes for fluorescent detection
of nucleic acids. We congratulate Anatoliy Balanda!!!

First Asian Spectroscopy Conference and Asian Biospectroscopy
Conference |
| 29.01.2007
- 02.02.2007
Bangalore, India
Vladyslava Kovalska and Mykhaylo
Losytskyy presented their reports in the First Asian Spectroscopy
Conference and Asian Biospectroscopy Conference that took place
from January, 29, till February, 2 2007 in Bangalore, India. This
Conference is the important Asian meeting in the field of biological
applications of spectroscopy. Our researchers represented Ukraine
at this meeting; acquainted themselves with the state of the art
of spectroscopy science in Asia (particularly in India); their
reports concerned such important and interesting scientific problems
as the development of fluorescent probes for selective detection
of amyloid proteins and the study of mechanism of styryl dyes
binding to DNA. At the Conference our researchers represented
two poster presentations:
- Cyanine
Dyes as Novel Fluorescent Probes for Selective Amyloid Proteins
Detection.
- Study
of Styryl Dyes-dsDNA Binding Equilibrium.

XXI IUPAC Symposium on Photochemistry |
|
2.04.2006
- 7.04.2006
Kyoto, Japan
Vladyslava Kovalska and Mykhaylo
Losytskyy participated in the XXI IUPAC Symposium on Photochemistry
that was held on 2-7 April 2006 in Kyoto, Japan. This Symposium
is one of the biggest worldwide meetings in this scientific direction;
more than 500 oral and poster reports were presented there. Our
researchers represented Ukraine at this Symposium; their reports
concerned such actual problems as the development of fluorescent
probes for nonspecific staining of proteins; mechanism of cyanines
binding to DNA; development of two-photon excited fluorescent
probes; and fluorescent J-aggregates. On the Conference our researchers
represented four poster presentations:
- Carbocyanine
dye j-aggregates formed in DNA groove for fluorescent imaging
of DNA.
-
Homodimer styryl dyes for two-photon excited fluorescent detection
of nucleic acids.
- Designing
of tri- and pentamethine cyanines as fluorescent probes for
specific dsDNA detection.
-
Novel LUCY stains for non-specific fluorescent detection of
proteins.

Processes (PIMoP) which was held on the 12-14 March 2006 in Prague
(Czech Republic). This event was a combination of meeting &
workshop devoted to the interface of molecular photophysics, photochemistry,
and ultrafast photoinduced processes in new materials. On the
Vth PIMoP our researchers introduced three oral presentations:
- New
Method For Covalent Fluorescent Labeling With Hemicyanine Dyes
